Leonardo da Vinci

Yesterday, Todd and Grant went with Grant's class down to the Birmingham Art Museum for a field trip. Leonardo da Vinci's drawings from the Biblioteca Reale in Turin are on display for the first time ever outside of Italy. They will only visit two states in the country- Alabama and California.

Since I wasn't able to go on the field trip, and I really wanted to see the exhibit, we took a family trip back to the museum yesterday afternoon. It was incredible!
Grant really enjoyed it both times. He talked all the way through the exhibit about da Vinci's great talents, how smart he was, how amazing it was that he did some of these sketches so quickly (he learned that from the field trip tour guide). His best line though was to Gabe..."Look at the drawing, baby. Do you understand that you are seeing history?" Gabe unfortunately did not. But he was very amazed by the big magnifying glasses they gave us to examine the art work.

Here is the only picture we were allowed to take.

If you get a chance, go take a look! The drawing are at the museum until November 9.
Admission is free!

Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday we took our annual family trip to the Pumpkin Patch. The weather was perfect and the cousins all had a great time being together. I don't love how commercialized it has become, but that's another post for a different day.

Todd got lots of great pictures, but these are my favorites.

Today's five...

1. Walks with Grant- we get some good conversations going walking around that big circle at Veteran's Park.

2. Starbuck's White Chocolate Mocha. I know drinking them will not help me get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but they sure are a nice treat.

3. Clean drinking water. Simple, but I was thinking about that today while I was cleaning my house. We have it so good in our country.

4. The sink has no dirty dishes in it, most of the floors are mopped and the piles that were piling up are now minimal. That feels good.
