Mother's Day Weekend

In my opinion all holidays (that includes birthdays) need more than just one day to be celebrated right. At our house, we have birthday week, Mother's Day weekend, Christmas month, etc. Today I was thinking back over my Mother's Day Weekend. It was a good one~ from Friday to Sunday.

Friday we had dinner with good friends. The kids played great. We had good, relaxing, real conversation. Stayed up late, drank coffee. A great time.

Saturday was Grant's last soccer game of the season. They didn't win, but they ran and played hard. It was warm and we soaked up some sun. Swam in the afternoon. That evening we went to a beautiful wedding that included an open air train ride from the train depot to a local winery. There was a cool breeze. It really was a perfect night for it. The dance time included a "light-saber" dance for all the little boys in attendance. When you're seven, that's pretty cool.

Sunday, we ate one of my favorite breakfasts, Orange French Toast and I got to open my presents. In the first bag, I found a purple, green, blue and yellow vase. Grant made it at school. It was painted and then fired. It's great. He even thought to paint the inside. In the second bag, I found the first two seasons of The Office on DVD. Not bad at all!! Perfect gifts. We went to church, out to lunch, and then the boys went swimming. I spent some time on the phone with my mom since we couldn't be together. The night ended with a viewing of season one of The Office.

One of my favorite parts of the weekend came on Sunday night as Grant was heading off to bed. I thanked him for making my day so special. He said "Your welcome, but don't worry, Mom, I'll still love you tomorrow even though it won't be Mother's Day."

That's good to know~ I sure am glad that's the little boy God chose to give me.
