Daily Randomness...

1. Gabe now has two teeth! The second one came through today. I'm so glad. It's been giving him trouble the last few days.

2. My house smells like cookies. Today was my baking day. Yum!

3. Grant is one of the three third graders that will be participating in the 3rd-8th grade spelling bee in January. He is very excited about it. Yay, Grant!

4. I've been listening to Delilah playing Christmas music tonight. How long has she been on the radio? We used to listen to her when I was working the night shift at a medical lab during my college years. The show is exactly the same- I don't even think the music has changed.

5. Sol Azteca has the best salsa in Alabaster.

6. If you could see my house right now you would never believe that we are having a our Community Group Christmas party here tomorrow night. There is stuff everywhere. Hopefully, I can pull it all together.

Gabe is 7 months old

From this....

To this....

The time is flying by. It just doesn't seem possible that Gabe is already 7 months old.
He is enjoying discovering the world around him and all three of us are enjoying watching him learn. Here's what he's been up to...

* He is a happy little guy. He spends lots of time smiling and laughing- which we all think is pretty cute.

* He is sitting up really well (started about 6 months)

* He has his first tooth. It broke through on Sunday, December 7.

* He loves music. His all time favorite song is "Somewhere over the Rainbow/ What a Wonderful World" by Israel Kamakawiwo Ole.

* He is eating a variety of baby food. I love the Earth's Best brand. They have some unique blends. Gabe's favorites are Tomato/carrot, Lentils/green peas and anything with bananas.

* He has tried cheerios in very small pieces. He's not that crazy about those yet.

* He loves Grant and Gordon. He "calls" them just about anytime they walk into a room. When they get closer he swings his arms and kicks his legs with excitement. Grant can make Gabe smile just by saying his name. That makes me smile, too.

* He is making lots of different sounds and using them to get our attention. When he uses a sound to "call" us and we respond to him, he laughs and smiles. So precious.

* If he does something that makes us laugh, he will do it again to see if he can make us laugh again. And if he sees someone laugh, he joins in. It's pretty funny when we are watching The Office.

* He is trying to crawl. He can get up on one knee, but he is yet to master getting up on both. I'm thinking it will be anyday now.

* He studies his toys trying to figure them out.

Yay for the first seven months!

Joseph

This is my favorite Christmas song. I love that it is from Joseph's perspective. Sometimes Joseph is spoken of as a secondary character in the story of Jesus' life. He wasn't. Even though we don't know much about Joseph what we do know is incredible. He was gracious to Mary, when by law he didn't have to be. He was willing to be obedient to God even when it cost him greatly. He was a man of incredible faith. He was a willing participant in a plan he couldn't have possibly understood.

Today...

Gabe slept until 8:30! The kitchen was clean before he woke up. What a nice start to the day.

I sorted through piles of things- organizing, putting away, etc.

Gabe took a nap from 10:30-11:30. I sorted through piles of laundry- washing, folding, etc.

Had lunch with a dear friend I don't get to see often enough. We ate Mexican at a place I hadn't tried before, laughed, shared and caught up.

Did a bit of grocery shopping.

Got our first Christmas card of the season and wondered if there would ever be a remote possibility of our family card being the first one of the season for someone. Probably not.

Made my grandma's Kale soup.

Took a trip to Target.

Ran to Marvin's to buy our Christmas tree. We did a "tree rescue" again this year. We check the trunk and make sure the tree looks healthy, but we don't open the netting until we get home. It looks like we got a pretty tree. The branches are still falling out. We'll see in the morning.

Watched Elf while we ate the Kale soup. Grant had some hot chocolate and we all had candy cane oreos.

Everything did not get done. I still have piles to sort through. I still have laundry to wash and fold. The kitchen that was clean this morning is not clean anymore, but it was a good day.
