Perspective

I received these pictures in an email today.

Here is the text that was with them:
"Most of us have an idea of the relative size of the planets and sun,
but it's rather dazzling to see it presented this way.
I certainly thought this was enlightening.
It's a big universe.
Antares is the 15th brightest star in the sky.
It is more than 1000 light years away.
Yet amidst all this, God knows when each sparrow falls. He cares about our smallest problem, our biggest hurt, our every joy. But we need to see our lives and ourselves in perspective. WE aren't the center of the universe. God is. We don't own our next breath. God does. Humbling isn't it?"



It brings some incredible perspective to how big our God is, how little I am, and how absolutely amazing it is that He loves me the way that He does. Even though the vastness of our universe really is beyond my comprehension, He still sees me, hears me, and never leaves me alone. This just made me want to praise Him, so I had to share.

Our Summer

This past Friday was craft night at church, so I spent a good bit of time last week going through the summer photos on the computer, putting them on cd's and making prints to scrapbook. Lately I've had scrapper's block, so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to catch up a little.

Unfortunately the block didn't go away and I didn't get much accomplished. But, looking through all the pictures reminded me of the fun we had this summer. Eventually I will get it all in the scrapbook, but for now I'm going to get it on the blog.

I didn't take any swimming pictures, but we did lots of that. And I just had to include the reading picture since Grant read 28 Magic Treehouse books this summer.
I loved our summer!

Today's Five...

I'm thankful for...

1. A little extra sleep. Even though I had to get up at 6am, I was able to go to bed at 9pm last night.

2. My CPR training today. I learned a lot. Things have changed since my last certification. It didn't hurt that the class ended over an hour earlier than it was supposed to. That was really nice on a Saturday morning. It's comforting to know that every one of the teachers at Grant's school are CPR and defibrillator trained.

3. My purple pen~it just makes me smile when I write with it.

4. Getting to spend time tonight with good friends, eating pizza and watching the NASCAR race, which my driver won.

5. My temperpedic type pillow- which I'm heading up to sleep on right now.

Hot Tea

For me there is something so comforting about hot tea, even in the summer. This past weekend I tried a new kind at my mother in law's house. It is Egyptian Licorice by Yogi tea. It has a very unique flavor. All of us liked it so much, I bought some for our house. I found it at Big Lots for $1.50 and Yogi tea is usually at least $3.50 a box. Yea!

Which reminds me, for all of you who like hot tea or eat organic foods, check at Big Lots. They have great deals on lots of organic cereals, teas, and canned goods. You never know what they will have, but I've found some great stuff. I love bargains as much as I love hot tea.:)

The Zucchini

Conversation I had with my 4 year old niece today.

Lex-"Auntie Sandi, I have a zucchini."
Me- "That's nice. Are you going to eat it?"
Lex- looking at me like I'm crazy, "No, I'm going to wear it today."
Me- "You are, how?" (still a little puzzled)
Lex- "I wear it when I swim in the pool. It shows my belly. It has a top part and a bottom part. You want to see it?"
Me- laughing hysterically, "Oh, that kind of zucchini! Yes, I do want to see it."

Today's five

1. Dunkin' Donuts coffee at Target. I had a few cups this morning.

2. A great basket of fruits and veggies from the co-op.

3. A mostly clean kitchen, since it's the first thing you see when you come in the front door, it always makes me happy if it's straightened out.

4. I found a really cool, 2 year old friendly monster truck for our nephew's birthday present (also at Target). He loves monster trucks.
